Vehicles on the taxiway problem
« on: June 11, 2012, 11:52:21 am »
Wondering if someone could direct me to a working sample of an AFX-file that makes the service vehicles use vehicle paths instead of the taxiway?

What are the requirements for the GSX-vehicles to use the vehicle path?
Do they need a vehicle parking spot connected to the vehicle path?
Does the vehicle path need to be in connection with the aircraft parking spot?

Im currently looking at MegaAirport Gardermoen X (where GSX uses the taxiways) and editing in Airport Facilitator X.
In example when the baggage carts are finished unloading they head straight for the taxiway and not the vehicle path that is only a few meters behind them.

GSX already uses vehicles paths, by preference. It relies to use taxiways only when there's no other choice to reach a parking.

Which means, if the AFCAD has errors, like vehicle paths entirely disconnected from the rest of the nodes network, unreachable parkings, or other nodes problems, since GSX can't see a proper connection to reach the assigned parking, it will be forced to use taxiways.

Is it necessary to attach every parking-spot to the vehicle paths?

Is it necessary to attach every parking-spot to the vehicle paths?

Surely not, it's enough a vehicle path can reach that parking spot in any way, even through a single entry point that will then connect many parking spots, what shouldn't be done, is to create isolated vehicle paths, were vehicles might circle endlessly, without any connection to the parkings.

This will not prevent GSX from working: if there are no usable vehicle paths, GSX vehicles will use regular taxiways but, of course, this will increase the chances of clashing with AI airplanes.
