Microsoft Flight
« on: February 29, 2012, 07:21:22 pm »
A trial of Microsoft Flight can be dwnloaded and played from this web site. Its great for sounds and the Stearman. Some scenery is no better than FSX though. Best of all the game trial is on the big island of Ha.

Nah...no thanks, no wonder they removed the word "simulator" it's 100% arcade.

Agreed!

I uninstalled it, after flying around for 10 minutes...
I think I got angry, that I couldn't fly around freely, but had to fly after some stupid balloons... And when I strayed to far of course, I got the message, that the "mission failed", and I HAD to restart... *sigh*

No thanks!
Best regards, Anders

Same here, and I was one of their beta testers.  Couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

You can fly around freely, but not during the intro. It's called a 'mission' for a reason!

Then there should be a way to skip that mission.  We know what we're doing, we shouldn't have to prove it.

Alright, alright... Sorry for that! I'm glad you're here to tell me these things... :P

Exactly! I guess, I was a bit impatient... but I quite honest hate being told/forced to play a specific mission in that regard...
In general, I wasn't all-out impressed with 'Flight'... Hasn't got much to do with simulation, if you ask me... ;)

I agree. In other words you cant access the Map and free fly until you have successfully completed the first mission?

That's the dummest thing Ive ever heard

Flight is not even in the same league as FSX In my opinion there is no comparison. And the graphics are not as good as FSX even without the excellent photoscenery of Megascenery.

I've enjoyed MS Flight so far for what it is...a game.  It's note every evening that I have the time to setup my yoke, rudder pedals and throttle quadrants.  Then run through the METARs and TAFs.  Then load multiple programs and spend 45 minutes on the ground getting ready for a 2 hour cruise and complex arrivals.  MS Flight is a nice place to "fly" that I can actually use a mouse and just get and go.  At it's current level, it is no way near a simulator and will not replaced FSX.  With the amount of stuff missing like real time weather, ATC, navaids, etc., I doubt it ever will be simulator like FSX.  Still, it can have it's place as long as you acknowledge what it is and accept it at that.

No plans to download Flight for me either, unless the following somehow happen.

1. Able to add AI a/c
2. Able to download real world weather
3. Able to use PMDG or LDS a/c
4. Able to use FSDT or other 3rd party airports and/or scenery
5. Places to fly other than Hawaii or Alaska.

Basically, until Flight gets to the stage of what we have in FS9 or FSX, I am uninterested. I frankly dont even care to try it for free in its current stage.
