Video Tributes

(1/3) > >>

GOONIE:
Hey guys, wanted to share a couple videos I am putting together on the Hornet (three draft versions). Keep in mind these are all works in progress, and I did not try to thread the needle with my flying abilities, just wanted to test out a couple ideas. I am sure Spaz will rip me a new for my cut or no grade passes made in the videos.  ;)

One question I have for the last video, is how do you remove the cross hairs from the PLAT guage and only show the other data (date, time, CV 68, etc) to simulate the other PLAT cam on the superstructure? I've seen it done in other videos, and was unsuccessful trying to edit the plat.xml and removing the background.bmp, was hoping to redo these videos using that feature (PLAT with no cross hairs). Any help?

Hope you enjoy!

Tribute to ejections!

SpazSinbad:
Capt, you make interesting videos especially the last greyscale one. Where does the ejection capability come from please? Interesting to see the differing camera views of incident.

GOONIE:
Thanks Spaz! The last video uses vrs's rhino for the ejection capability.

SpazSinbad:
Capt, I do not have good video editing utilities/programs. However if you can edit good bits that flow together you will have good videos. One does not need to see everything in one long time shot (unless it is good). I guess it all depends on what you want to show. My computer is not able to play sound for the moment. Will you have music or voice over for the videos?

Sludge:
CAPT...

Good videos.  Yes, there is a way to make the Plat Cam with no crosshairs.  My only video critique is a question, and its more about FSX configuration.  Do you intentionally fly with Head movement enabled?  I dont know if you do that by choice, or if you didn't know about the "fix" and havent implemented it?  The main reason I remove head motion in the FSX.CFG, it keeps the the HUD conformal.  So when you kick out the boards, put some Gs on the jet, or whatever, your head isnt moving all over the place.  Thats just my personal technique on how I fly.

Either way, really good pattern work, you put a smile on my face when you turned to BRC right after takeoff, then did your turn to downwind after... VERY FEW carrier pattern videos do the small, realistic things correct the way you just did.  Also, I like the sounds on the pattern, especially turn to final bearing and in the groove.  Always love real world Paddles comms.
