narrow fsx view options
fael097:
hey peeps, in fsx i most often use the virtual cockpit and locked spot views, so i was wondering if its possible to narrow views cycle just to these ones. it bothers me by mistake pressing the wrong button, and having to cicle between all views / categories again (or returning, sometimes i end up pressing another wrong button lol) is it possible?
also, i need a reset view on my VC. like, i pan the VC view to an instrument, and when i pan back, it doesnt fits right in the center, and when i press numpad 5, it centers on the seat, not on my screen. shit thats been pissing me off. any solutions?
cheers

fael097,
1. Actually it's easy to get rid of unwanted views. Open your cameras.cfg file (the one located in the Applications and Data\Microsoft\FSX folder, not in the main FSX folder!) and edit as follows:
- if you want to 'disable' a view, i.e. make it unselectable when changing views by 'A' key, just add a CycleHidden=True statement to that view's camera definition;
- if you want to completely get rid of a view, remove whole view's definition, i.e. [CameraDefinition.XXX] section.
Remember, if you 'disabled' a view, it can still be selected via FSX menu.
Of course, it would be wise to make a backup of the cameras.cfg prior to making any changes... ;)
2. You can use Ctrl-Spacebar to reset your view position.

thanks mate, that was really helpful
right now im @ work, but i'll try as soon as i get home.
btw, i have 2 other questions
1.the default external view is Spot. can set it to Locked Spot? so it will load as default, and i dont need to switch category inside current view everytime.
2.can i set a view position as default, so ctrl+spacebar will reset to that position?
thanks again mate

fael097,
1. Yes, you can change views order - just swap Spot and Locked Spot [CameraDefinition.XXX] sections of the cameras.cfg. You do not even need to change their numbers, as FSX loads them in order of appearance. Cool, eh?... 8)
2. Let me guess... Do you want to change your VC eyepoint position? Then you will need to tweak your aircraft's aircraft.cfg file. Read this useful thread http://forum.avsim.net/topic/322515-fsx-eyepoint-virtual-cockpit/
If you have SDK installed, you can read Core Utilities Kit/Camera Configuration/Camera Configuration.htm, explaining everything about views and cameras in FSX.
Hope this will help

thats it... last thing lol
fsrecorder and some other addon created 2 other views, that are not on the aircraft config file, do you happen to know where they should be?
