GSX Pro does not work since using AddonLinker
« on: September 24, 2025, 05:57:38 pm »
Hello everyone,

I am currently using MSFS2024 and recently downloaded the AddonLinker from flightsim.to. Since then, everytime I try to request a service in the simulator, GSX seems to restart or crash (VDGS disappears, GSX menu reloads) and naturally nothing happens on the ground. When the menu has finished loading, the whole process starts again. I try to request ground services and GSX crashes / reloads. I read in other Threads (an answer by virtuali) that AddonLinker does not do anything to GSX so I don't know if it causes the problem but, as I said, ever since I started using it GSX is not usable.
I already reinstalled GSX (twice) and even fully deleted the FSDT installer and every file connected to GSX from my system and installed everything again. I also added the AddonManager folder to my anivirus exclusions as suggested in another Thread. The Live Update also had no effect. I don't even have GSX profiles installed at the moment since I thought they might cause the problem, but no. It simply does not work. I tried it with different airplanes (for the stated problems above the Fenix Aircraft) at different airports (with and without scenery / GSX profile). In the default IniBuild A330 GSX did not appear to load at all, so I couldn't even request any ground services.
Please help me as I slowly go insane trying to fix this :')

Kind regards from EDDF

You should not let the Addon Linker manage GSX, because GSX already installs its packages as Symbolic links so, the Addon Linker should (if it's working correctly), just recognize they are already links, and don't touch them.

If the Addon Linker is not correctly recognize they are already links, it might try to create a circular link, causing all kind of errors.

To fix this, REMOVE the links for the GSX Packages in the Community folder, start the FSDT Installer and click RELINK, so it will create them correctly as they are when installing normally.

In Addon Linker, do not allow it to touch GSX.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think AddonLinker does not touch the GSX file (it just shows it on the right side as a symbolic link). However, just the folder "fsdreamteam-gsx-pro" is in the community folder as a symbolic link, "fsdreamteam-gsx-world-of-jetways" is in there as a regular folder (I suppose this is right?). AddonLinker also tells me that the world of jetway folder is no external link but a regular folder.
I will try to remove the files and link them again (although I fully reinstalled everythink three times already). If it works I am going to reply again.

Thank you once again.

"fsdreamteam-gsx-world-of-jetways" is in there as a regular folder (I suppose this is right?).

No, of course this is wrong, and it's exactly the cause of the problem! Not just that problem: if the link became a real folder a while ago, it might outdated, causing all sort of malfunctions, because our updater is updating the package in the \Addon Manager folder (which is supposed to be linked to the Community), but if the folder is not a link, the simulator is using what is likely an outdated version because it's not a link anymore.

We install ALL GSX packages as a Symbolic links, if one of them became a real folder, it might have happened when restoring the Community from a backup because, unless you know exactly how your backup software deal with links on restoring, you can't be sure it won't translate a link into a real folder, since backup software usually have options to tell how links should be handled on backup and restore.

That's assuming you used a backup software. If you just used Windows Explorer Copy/Paste functions to restore a folder, it will translate a link into a real folder.

So yes, as I've said in my previous post, the solution is to REMOVE the links for the GSX Packages (ALL of them!) in the Community folder, start the FSDT Installer and click RELINK, so it will create them correctly as they are when installing normally.
