GSX does a good job reading the scenery for the pushback procedure, without doing any custom pathing. I figure it wouldn't be that big of a challenge to simply reverse it if the option to pull back to the gate is selected? Cant say for sure though, I'm not a dev.
Would be nice to have without any custom configs.

Yes, but by default, that's using what's called the snap option. Basically, it's following the path that's depicted in the AFCAD file for the scenery. Have a look at the update notes for version 2.9.1, which was when it was introduced.

Sure you can. I've done it.

Just a bit of a time saver. You can start your engines while you get your flight plan clearance and your taxi approved. Default push back and your on you way. But you have to really watch out for other airplanes on the same taxi way because you don't have contact with ATC until you hold short.

I mean, you could, but I don't know why you would do that since those engines burn a significant amount of fuel. It might be a couple of minutes from the time you get your flight plan clearance to the time you push back. Additionally, if you still have activity going on around the aircraft, you risk having people or other things get sucked into the engines.

Right, it would be against every airport regulation in the real world. But, it's fun to use your imagination and experiment with the sim.

This is why I'm asking for this new feature to be added lol. I'm not looking for workarounds here, I've already considered them.
