Why do the voices now have English accents in Canada?

(1/1)

LukeK:
Boarding at CYYZ and it feels like I'm on a Virgin Atlantic flight from Heathrow. Most of Canada should use US accents if en-ca is not available.

Cheers

virtuali:
Voice accents are not based on the place of boarding or landing.

That would be wrong, of course, since it would result in unrealistic situations like a United Airlines flight starting from, let's say, Dubai, turning to English/Arab accent for that flight only.

Crew accents (we don't have passengers voices anymore, only Crew greetings) are more properly related to the nationality of the airline, so Virgin Atlantic being a British airline, will always have a British accent no matter where they fly from or to.

LukeK:
To clarify, it was a WestJet flight, CYYZ-KLAS. Nothing British about it. Hope this helps track it down.

In your first post, you said it was Virgin Atlantic flight.

We don't have a Canadian accent so, do you suggest we'd set WJA to the US accent then ?
