T-45 HUD problem ...

(1/2) > >>

average_joe:
When I get airborne and cleaned up, the velocity vector and pitch ladder is offset quite a ways towards the left edge of the HUD. I can bring it back to center by inputting a lot of right rudder (except now I'm doing rudder rolls).

Checked the controller - calibration is ok.

Stretch32:
Sounds like the HUD is uncaged. There's a key command that will cage it and set the pitch ladder in the middle of the HUD although I'm not sure what it is. If you've got the realistic HUD I think it's in the readme that came with it.

Caused by wind.  Cage your hud and you will have a ghost velocity vector where it is now, and the normal velocity vector centered along with the pitch ladder.

Readme file mentions a cage "switch". Don't see any such switch in the VC view.

Winds were light at 5000'. Crab angle shouldn't be that "big" a factor. I think the F-18 HUD limit is 8 degrees ... need big winds for that much crab at 300 knots!

Thanks

Stretch32:
T-45C cage switch is on the stick about halfway down the grip on the left side (where your thumb would rests if you were just holding it). I don't know if you can click it or if it's even modeled though.
