Since today, I'm getting an unhandled exception error when launching Live Update - here's the details:

That's because you haven't updated to the latest version, since your error related to Font memory allocation has already been fixed, as confirmed in this thread:

ok - I see from reading through the other threads to download and install the new installer.

question - what does have to be uninstalled or removed before running the new installer?

Try this installer, it's not MSFS-specific, it's just an offline copy of the files you were *supposed* to get from the servers:
