how to bring up the glidscope

He means the ILS Bars.  You have to put in the ILS frequency into the radio, and then on the MFD (HSI) click the ILS button.

I must check but I don't think any FSX stationary carriers have ILS, correct me if wrong.

Ah yes sorry I meant the ILS bars  :-[ cheers for the help with that one guys,I'll give it a go tonight and see if the stationary carriers have ILS,I'v got a feeling that they do as I'm sure I'v had the ILS bars up on one of the F-18 carrier training missions.

You were right the first time.  An ILS is made up of a glideslope, a localizer, and can also include marker beacons, or a range definer such as DME.  So you would need a localizer and glideslope indication on your HSI.
