Shared Files Between FSX/P3Dv4

On another website, there is a tool that will convert AFDs' from FSX to P3D. My question is, since I have both sims installed, can I edit the AFD (which is now in the addon manager folder) using ADE and still have it work in P3Dv4? Thanks!!

All our AFCADs are made to work with both sim, with no modifications required. If they weren't, we wouldn't have installed in a shared folder to begin with.
