Crash at startup
« on: January 24, 2009, 08:41:01 pm »
Hi.

I deleted the original backup folder from my fs9 files and reinstalled the fs91upd this time it completed the installion. I was then able to install the JFK trial scenery. When starting fs sitting at the runway or any other location the program crashes. Any ideals on fixing this?

Thanks,

You probably still don't have the 9.1 fully updated.

Check the properties and version for these two files:

FS9.EXE
G3D.DLL (in the MODULES folder)

and verify that both are 9.1.xxxxx version (Right click->Properties->Details)

Hi,

They are not the same, the G3D.DLL is 9.01.040901.01.  Should it read 9.1.0.40929 if so how can change it?

Thanks,

First, you just can't "change" the version number, and expect a file to behave like a different one...

However, as I've said in my previous message, the least significant numbers do not count, as long as the first one are 9.1.xxx.

Which is very strange because, from your description of the problem, a crash that happens in the very moment you put the airplane at JFK, is exactly what would happen if you had the 9.0 G3D.DLL. Can you check GLOBAL.DLL as well ?

Does it happen at JFK only, or at other of our airports as well ?
