mjl1966:
2022 -- I am experiencing exactly the same thing.

GSX l2
FSX:SE
Majestic Q400

After requesting fueling:
Little Texaco truck shows up.
Fueling dialog appears.
Truck begins fueling.
Red counter increases over time.
Green banner provides status updates.

No animation of any kind.

Is there supposed to be more to it or is this just how it is for smaller aircraft?

No, you aren't.

The thing discussed in this thread, was an user with the PMDG 737 NGX, and it was explained that, to have the Fuel Hydrant or the Fuel Tanker, the refueling point under the wing must be higher than the minimum those platform-based vehicles can reach.

And, in the linked thread, users that had larger airplanes, but they didn't had the latest GSX installed.

Yes, of course it is, and for several reasons:

- You are using a plane with a refueling point lower than the minimum reachable from the available trucks. For smaller planes, we have the small Texaco truck, that has a fuel counter, but no crew/cable animation.

- You are using FSX so, even if you used a different airplane, the only larger fuel vehicle available is the Tanker, because the Hydrant vehicle is only available in P3D, since it use human animation too complex to be supported by FSX, and the vehicles are native PBR, so they only work in P3D4/5.

We announced to have stopped any new development for FSX back in 2017 so, the only thing we'll do in FSX right now, is bug-fixing, but no new features are planned.
