CYVR runways
« on: October 01, 2015, 07:06:50 am »
Searched the internet and find no evidence of  there being a runway 26 center at CYVR yet I hear ATC giving clearance reference runway 26 center. The airport info when a map (FSX menu bar)  is called up,  shows a 3500 foot concrete runway 26 center that does not exist in real life.

That used to be 26A, which was part of taxiway A. It's been fully decommissioned for a few years now.

Yes, it does:

Although it called 26A, and it's no longer used today, but it used to be, to relieve GA traffic from the main runways.

okay, thanks for the quick response, is it an easy edit or should I just ignore ATC since I don't see the area in question when I do a bell 210 fly over

okay I put on my glasses and suspect the section of taxiway left of 26L close to the button of the departure end, marked with touchdown markings is the  infamous 26 center, amazing what you see when your glasses are clean, and BTW, fantastic job in the creation of CYVR, could be used in movies as CGI

The runway in reality (26A, it was called) has been closed as a runway however for over 6 years. Officially decommissioned not long after that. Personally, I removed it from the airport file on release day of the scenery.
