virtuali addon manager FSX Steam update
Lawman:
Cleaned cache, rebooted and downloaded again. I still get the "Steam"-version of both the Vancouver 1.4-patch and the standalone addon-manager as downloaded from the Vnacouver-page. Digital signature of the Vancouver-patch is 20 december, 20:10h.

I can only repeat and confirm that, with that version, the problem doesn't happen and the installation will go in FSX normally. If you have the Steam edition, they will ask if you want to install there. If you don't have it, you won't see any question and the installation will go into FSX.
I tried it just now with both the Stand-Alone Addon Manager installer and the CYVR installers. They all work fine.
Lawman:
Okay, just to be clear: the installers still throw up the message the OP mentioned, but I can ignore that message and it will install into the "regular" FSX?

The current installers don't show that message and no, you can't ignore it. As I've said, if you don't have FSX Steam edition, you won't see ANY message, except one that will just say the installation will go into FSX, but that's not an error, and surely doesn't look like one.

Here's the deal now. Downloaded Addon Manager on a stand alone computer that has FSX installed. Ran as admin and it installed fine. I figure this is good installer. So I burned it to a CD. Took it to the main computer. Copied it into the Downloads folder, ran it as admin and it's still looking for steam. Explain that.
