Scenery packages not loading correctly and poor performance
Charlie44:
Hello,
I purchased, downloaded and registered the following FSDT scenery last night (7/11/2014):
LAX V2
JFK V2
DFW
ORD
All four installs went smoothly with no errors, and I've verified using Addon Manager that these four are
listed as installed and active.
The Chicago scenery seems to be running okay, but the video lags only when I'm running this scenery
package, and there's a problem with the runway markings and lighting (nonexistent). The FSX default
airport scenery was better. The reason I purchased these FSDT scenery packages is because of the FSDT
scenery Youtube videos. I can't get the LAX scenery to run properly-- it either locks up FSX completely,
or there's major stuttering. Mostly it just locks up FSX and I have to kill the FSX process. I'm
experiencing this same problem with JFK. For the most part, none of the scenery is running correctly.
I re-named the KLAX_OBJ.BGL file, launched FSX again with LAX as the location, and didn't have this
problem, but I didn't have the FSDT ORD scenery either. I've spent hours researching this on this
forum, but haven't found anything related to this problem.
For the record, I'm running FSX (run as admin with UAC disabled) with the acceleration pack on an
I5-2500K 3.3GHz quad core PC with 4 GB of RAM with Win 7/64 bit, and I was using the PMDG 737 NG
aircraft. I've got an Nvidia GTX560 Ti video card with the latest driver (337.88). I also should note
that I ran the ORD and DFW scenery packages at ~5 FPS, and display settings set at medium, with the PMDG
aircraft (and the HIMEM fix). OUtside of Active Sky 2012 and ORBX (verified scenery is in correct order
in FTX Central), I've not installed any other FSX add ons. This PC is dedicated to FSX-- it doesn't have
anything else installed on it. Contents of dll.xml follow:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">

<Path>.\RAASPRO\RAASPRO.dll</Path>
<DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
<DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
</Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>
I'm trying to figure out if there's a setting or file somewhere that needs to be changed, or, the
packages didn't install properly.
Please help.
Thanks

Are you sure that is your DLL.XML ? If yes, no wonder nothing works correctly: you don't have the Addon Manager ( bglmanx.dll ) entry. The DLL.XML file should be located at %APPDATA%\Microsoft\FSX, please be sure that one is the correct one you posted.
If it is, then something in very wrong, as if you haven't installed anything, because our installers will surely update the DLL.XML ( and EXE.XML, with the Couatl.exe line ) to add our two modules.
Do you have BOTH the Addon Manager and the Couatl menus under the FSX "Addons" menu ?
Charlie44:
Yes, that's the only DLL.XML file within the FSX folder. Strange though, I have both the Addon Manager and Coui-powered products listed in the FSX Add-ons. I haven't uninstalled anything-- just renamed the one file I mentioned earlier.

That's what I thought: if you are looking into the FSX folder, it's NOT the place where FSX looks for that file. The actual file in use, as I've said in my previous message, is under this folder:
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\FSX
I'm sure your DLL.XML and EXE.XML files there are fine, otherwise you won't have any of our menus under the "Addons" menu.
What the Addon Manager says about the sceneries ?
Charlie44:
Okay, I mis-read the path you stated:
